Joining a Club
Introduction Club membership is useful even for people taking part in colour coded events as it enables contact with experienced orienteers who can offer help and advice. There may also be, from time to time, an opportunity to develop your orienteering skills under the guidance of a coach.

Club members can give something back to the sport and have a say in what goes on. They can help with the running of an event by offering to do registration, act as a starting official, put out control markers, timekeeping, etc, etc. They might even wish to organise an event themselves one day once they have enough experience! Perhaps they have mapping skills and could produce original orienteering maps or update existing maps. Orienteering has many avenues of interest besides just simply taking part in an event.
